Community Programs

Through the National Programs Unit, COTA develops innovative progams which are delivered by peer educators via the State and Territory COTAs.

COTA Australia currently offers two national peer education programs:

What is Peer Education?

Peer education is the process of people who share common ground learning from one another.  Volunteer peer educators are trained by COTAs to talk to other older people about healthy ageing issues.  Your local COTA can provide more information.

Beyond Maturity Blues

COTA Australia in partnership with beyondblue, the national depression initiative,  offers the Beyond Maturity Blues peer education program.

Beyond Maturity Blues aims to raise awareness and promote understanding of depression and anxiety.  Informative, interactive sessions delivered by trained peer educators are available, free of charge, to seniors groups, clubs and organisations. Sessions are also available in Greek, Italian, Vietnamese and Chinese.
