COTA Australia today outlined the five priority fixes needed to address well documented failures in aged care that should occur while the Royal Commission into aged care conducts further investigation of the sector.
The 'Measuring Quality and Consumer Choice in Aged Care' project sought to hear the views of older people about how they choose an aged care provider, their views on indicators of quality and what other information they would need to make choices.
COTA Australia welcomed the Federal Government’s announcement which will provide $2 million in extra funding support for the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) to continue tackling elder abuse in aged care and the community over the next two years.
The 2018/19 Federal Budget contains a large number of important measures to improve the lives of older Australians, which jointly constitute a significant, positive step towards better preparing Australia for our ageing population of the future.
