COTA Australia, in May 2023, provided a submission to the Select Committee’s inquiry into the Provision and Access of Dental Services in Australia. Our submission focuses on sharing the views and experiences of people aged 50 years and above with dental services in Australia.

In the COVID-19 response Budget in October, we urge the Federal Government to prioritise the following areas:Pensions and Income Support Future Retirement Income Policy Aged Care Reform Employment of older Australians Housing A whole-of-Government approach to an Ageing Australia

COTA Australia welcomes the opportunity to provide this Pre-Budget submission of measures that we urge the Australian Government to implement as part of the 2020/21 Federal Budget.

The Royal Commission has identified that in its upcoming hearing to be held in Canberra 9 – 13 December it will investigate the interfaces between the aged care and health care systems. COTA believes improvements to the interface between healthcare and aged care systems are essential.

The issues identified in this submission impact many older Australians and the measures outlined here to address these issues have the potential to improve the lives of a large and growing proportion of Australians.

This Senate Inquiry is on an issue of importance to many older Australians - mobility scooters.  Indeed, Scooters Australia claimed in 2009 that the overwhelming proportion of mobility scooter users are in the 70+ age group and in fact, in the previous few years, most purchasers were aged over 80.
