This year's Intergenerational Report makes much of the need to control the economic impact of the ageing baby boomers. It is expected that by 2056 one in four people living in Australia will be over the age of 65 and 1.8 million of them will be over 85.
A capacity audience turned out to discuss ‘Gender and Ageing’ at COTA Australia’s 2015 National Policy Forum. An impressive group of speakers and the Forum delegates shared research, analysis, on-the-ground experience, viewpoints and ideas.
COTA is putting forward recommendations for action in the 2012-2013 Budget across eight key areas: aged support and care, ageism and age discrimination, housing, reducing the digital divide, essential services, health and income support and workforce participation.
