The ‘Home Care Today’ project ran from 2013 to June 2017. COTA Australia continues to provide access to Home Care Today resources which were current at June 2017. However they are no longer monitored or updated, and information may not be current.

Becoming an approved provider – Changes to legislation as of 27 February 2017

An approved provider is an organisation approved to provideaged care under the Aged Care Act 1997.

The care types under the Aged Care Act are:

  • residential care
  • home care
  • flexible care

To be approved:

  • The organisation (the applicant) must make an application using the approved form
  • The organisation must be a corporation
  • The organisation must be suitable to provide aged care
  • None of the applicant’s key personnel is a disqualified individual
